Here are everyone’s suggestions in no particular order ….

• share recipes
• address / contacts book (change my number in one place so everyone knows what it is),
• birthdays wedding anniverarys (with reminders function) Calendar for major trips and stuff like that and flags to make our events private or open to all
• thoughts for the day
• journals explaining whats going on
• the kids could chat without the danger of peadaphiles trying to talk to them
• Members blogs (diaries)
• A file upload/link area. lets make available applications, that we find useful, easily available to the others in the family
• Photo albums, I'd like to create different folders to keep different photo subjects in.
• Video conferencing, probably between two people
• Voice conference multi user 
• Personal page that’s editable (have you seen yahoo's new 360 service)?
• editable databases (again yahoo)
• Options on some of the above to be personal or public where applicable.
